about our food |
at rooburoo we aim to offer home style Indian food, and we abide by the following
simple rules:
rooburule one
low, slow and with love
unlike most Indian restaurants which use rapid industrial cookers and large quantities
of oil and spices we prepare each dish in the traditional home-cooked way, giving our
food a full flavor and leaving you with a light yet satisfied feel. less oil, less spice,
maximum taste.
rooburule two
beat the base
the common base used in most Indian restaurants is a combination of onions, garlic
and ginger. here at rooburoo we use a unique base for all our offerings giving each
dish their own distinctive taste.
rooburule three
all India not north India
most Indian restaurants term their cooking as "North Indian" or even "Muglai".
The characteristics of these cuisines is the abundant use of ingredients such as cream,
clarified butter, nuts and multiple spices; the Moghal empire was renowned for the
decadency of its cooking. however, India has a diversity of cultures and a diversity
of food. here at rooburoo we have selected dishes from all over India representing
the full variety of traditional home cooked Indian dishes.
rooburule four
living off the land, not off the shelf
the philosophy of Indian food is that it is reliant on fresh food from the land and sea,
food that is locally available and freshly plucked, no condiments, no industrial sauces
or processed marinades. here at rooburoo we use fresh seasonal produce from quality
local suppliers.
rooburule five
love and faith in food
eating and cooking within Indian culture is a communal activity to be shared with family
and friends. the kitchen is always a constant hub of activity at home, in temples,
gurdwaras and of course Indian weddings. the responsibilities of cooking and serving
food is shared amongst everyone, young, old, male and female, and is an expression
of love, not a chore. here at rooburoo our food is a team effort. our aim is to please our
guests and friends with food that is pure in flavour , goodness and love. |
